Highlights during the week of 15 November:

The opening of the exhibit "La Guerre du Jazz” (The Jazz War) will take place on 15 November 2018. It will be followed at 6:30 pm by a lecture by Franck Bergerot, organised in partnership with the Orchestre Symphonique de Bretagne, as part of the Jazz à l'Ouest Festival.

The editor-in-chief of "Jazz magazine" will retrace the history of the Black Infantry Regiment, the "Harlem Hellfighters" who landed on 1 January 1918 in the bay of Brest with a new sound in tow. This American military orchestra, conducted by James Reese Europe and playing as close as possible to the combat zones, would introduce Europe to jazz.

Franck Bergerot is also the author of several books including Le Jazz dans tous ses états (éditions Larousse - 2011), Miles Davis, an introduction to modern jazz (Le Seuil - 1996) and, in collaboration with Arnaud Merlin, L'épopée du jazz (Gallimard - 2001).
