Fanny Bugnon, Rennes 2 History Professor and Head of Gender Studies Diploma Program, and Rachel Chagnon, UQAM Professor of Law and Director of the Institut de recherches et d'études féministes (IREF), have together developed a digital course module on "gender studies methodology", with the support of three UQAM teachers, Eve-Marie Lampron, Liza Petiteau and Alice Van Der Klei. This collaboration allows the partners to combine their knowledge and experience in gender studies and gender equality training, as well as their respective expertise in digital platforms and tools in education.

The interdisciplinary course module, which is offered remotely and divided into thematic video presentations of about twenty minutes each, is intended both for interns of the Rennes 2 Gender Studies program and UQAM students taking classes at the IREF. Throughout the course, they will analyze and synthesize the theoretical and methodological contributions developed over the past 40 years in France and Quebec in feminist and gender studies. Three such videos were produced at Rennes 2 by the Interuniversity Pedagogical Office (SUP) during a June 2019 visit by Eve-Marie Lampron and Liza Petiteau. They focused on three themes: an introduction to key concepts in gender studies; history and feminism; and Franco-Quebecois perspectives in research-action. "This collaboration with UQÀM has enabled us to create a real forum for exchange and dialogue, about concerns, common theories, and also the differences that are notably linked to the older institutionalization of gender studies in Quebec universities," explains Fanny Bugnon.

In addition to its pedagogical dimension, the partnership between Rennes 2 and UQAM also has a research component which includes the hosting of professors from the Canadian university, invited through a Humanities and Social Sciences Chair program, a Chair of the Americas program, or the diploma program’s Summer University, which welcomes more than a hundred people each year for its day of public lectures.
