Hosted by Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences at Nordic House in Brussels, this three-day workshop brought together key representatives of the nine-member alliance to advance preparations for the official launch of the newly funded EMERGE project.

Following the approval of financial support under the European University Initiative by the European Commission, the EMERGE Steering Committee gathered to coordinate the project’s launch, set for January 1, 2025. This collaborative workshop focused on finalizing strategic objectives and operational frameworks for the upcoming academic year, solidifying EMERGE’s commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration across Europe’s educational landscape.

A significant highlight of the event was the ceremonial re-signing of the EMERGE mission statement by the presidents and rectors of the consortium’s member universities. This reaffirmation underscored their shared vision and dedication to the alliance’s goals, which include promoting regional and global engagement, driving transnational cooperation in education and research, and supporting the inclusion of marginalized communities.

The EMERGE alliance, which began in 2019, is poised to make substantial contributions to the European Higher Education Area by fostering innovation, enhancing mobility, and promoting diversity and inclusion. This workshop marks a critical milestone as the alliance prepares for its ambitious next phase.
