For the second time since 2019, Rennes 2 University has been awarded the 2-star level of the “Bienvenue en France"label. The label recognizes the quality and consistency of our university programs dedicated to welcoming international students, notably through: the provision of quality information, support to better understand university procedures and study conditions as well as assistance and tips for adapting to campus life and life in Rennes.

Internationalization has been at the heart of Rennes 2’s strategy for the past several years and we are continuously committing to improving the process of welcoming students, teachers and researchers from abroad. Their presence on our campuses offers our university community the opportunity to learn about other countries and cultures, fostering important intercultural understanding and open-mindedness. These principles are also intrinsic to the values of humanism, openness, and the transmission and dissemination of knowledge that underpin the mission of our University.

We encourage and support student initiatives of all kinds with the help of dedicated offices and partnerships, including the Student Life Office, the Cultural Office and the International Relations Office among others. We are also a member institution of the Rennes International Mobility Center (CMI Rennes) - whose mandate is to support international students and researchers, as well as to provide practical advice and opportunities for intercultural exchanges in and around Rennes.

Our offering for international students includes but is not limited to:

  • the development of numerous French-language and cultural programs at the CIREFE, Rennes 2’s premier language-learning center (currently welcoming around 2,000 international students each year),
  • an increasing number of speciality courses (in our faculties and departments) available in English and other languages,
  • an updated international website in English, offering information on our degree programs, admissions procedures, governance and functioning, regional context, ways to get involved on our campuses and in the community,
  • an increased offer of administrative support and cultural activities through the International Mobility Center (in collaboration with 14 other higher education establishments in the Rennes area, 6 national research organizations and the city of Rennes),
  • individual academic assistance and support provided by faculty and staff members who have training and experience in working with international students,
  • the development of an "internationalization at home" program that offers students from partner universities the opportunity to familiarize themselves with our university at a distance, prior to deciding if they would like to conduct a physical mobility program at our university,
  • the opportunity to participate in numerous cultural events throughout the year, which are offered free of charge or at reduced prices to our entire student community.

The “Bienvenue en France” label: Improving the international student experience

The label was launched in November 2018 by Campus France as part of a national strategy prioritizing the internationalization and attractiveness of the French higher education system. It can be awarded at the level of: 1, 2 or 3. The level of each institution is decided in accordance with the total number of criteria fulfilled, with special consideration given to "Welcome Package" criteria.
