The Times Higher Education (THE), a British magazine which provides higher education data on institutions around the world, published their latest findings on European Teaching Rankings in July of 2018.  In it, the University of Rennes 1 is ranked 101-125th, and Rennes 2 University is ranked at 151-200th.

Over 240 universities from Western and Southern Europe are distinguished for the quality of their teaching, 23 of which are French. Among them, the University of Rennes 1 ranks 11th, Rennes 2 University ranks 12th (in both cases, equally with other universities).

Eight countries are represented: the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Portugal and Ireland. The British universities Oxford and Cambridge are ranked at the top two places. Sorbonne University is in third place. To achieve this ranking, THE is based on a survey of 30,000 European students, taking into account four criteria: student involvement, student success, the teaching environment and the resources of the institutions.
