The CELTIC-BLM and TEMPORA research centers are organizing, within the framework of the Diploma of Celtic Studies (DEC), the conference "Pays celtiques et Afrique subsaharienne : les sources orales au secours de l’histoire", a  day dedicated to examining the role of oral history in these countries.

The writing of history is, indeed, mostly based on written sources, emanating from those who hold power, whether political, economic or intellectual. But should we not also take into consideration history as it is told by the people who lived it?

During this conference, researchers will offer their reflections on the contribution of oral sources in the writing of the history of Celtic countries and French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa.

With the exceptional presence of Ibrahima Thioub, Historian and Former Rector of Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, and Jérémie Nguessan Kouadio, Sociolinguist and former Dean of the University of Cocody in Abidjan.
