Preparing your 2023-2024 Academic Year: Important dates for the Fall semester

As the Fall semester is rapidly approaching, we’ve noted some important dates and other information that will allow you to better prepare for the upcoming school year.

Find our next year’s academic calendar available here. Important things to note include:

  • The dates of the Pré-rentrée for the Villjean and Mazier campuses, from September 1st, 2023. (You can also find the specific dates for L1, L2, L3 and graduate student levels here.)
  • Semester 1 Welcome and Orientation Week for Exchange Students: September 4 - 8, 2023/ Contact: sri-incoming [at] univ-rennes2.fr (sri-incoming[at]univ-rennes2[dot]fr)

 

French-language Students of the CIREFE

Registered students of the CIREFE should check their website for important information regarding early semester meetings and start dates for classes.

 

Other important dates on campus: 

  • International Students’ Day (with the International Mobility Center, CMI, in downtown Rennes): International students, PhD students and researchers studying in Rennes, the CMI invites you to join them for their welcome event on Thursday, September 7th.  Come and share a friendly time, get informed and meet other students! From 1 - 6:30pm.
  • Campus Week: Get to know your campus and student services available in a convivial way: September 12 - 13, 2023 on the Villejean campus. In Saint-Brieuc for the Mazier campus on: Thursday, September 14th.

Assistance and more through the CMI Rennes

The CMI Rennes offers assistance for international students, doctoral students and researchers. Make an appointment with them for questions related to: 

  • finding accommodation for the school year
  • visa validation 
  • residence permit renewal procedures
  • questions on health insurance
  • and other procedures 

In addition, the CMI offers students and researchers numerous ways to get to know the city with a list of cultural activities planned throughout the year. Check their website regularly for updates for the 2023-2024 year. 

 

Meet other students with the Rennes 2 Buddy System

Rennes 2 has created a buddy system to help put international students in contact with local students in this mentor/mentee program. To register as an international student, you should fill out the bilingual form available on this webpage. 



 

Ways to Keep Busy this Summer

Already in Rennes or arriving soon? Find a list of festive activities at your disposal this summer with the help of the CMI Rennes. Explore the “Exporama" festival (a contemporary art festival offering numerous events on the theme of the 60s during the summer), or attend a free concert thanks to the Transat en Ville 2023 festival (free concerts with some 30 dates scheduled over the summer period through Saturday August 19). You can also find other options at the Rennes Tourism Office website, Destination Rennes.
