Rennes 2 Welcomes Staff from 12 European Institutions for a Successful ERASMUS + Staff Training Week

Staff members from higher education institutions around Europe were invited to spend the week discussing how to keep ahead of educational trends while improving their French language skills.

Sixteen staff members from various European universities visited Rennes 2 from October 14th - 18th, for a week of exchange and learning within the framework of the ERASMUS + Staff Training Week. This year’s event, which took place on the Villejean campus, was the third edition of this networking and learning experience.

Staff members from the following institutions were present:

  • Charles University, Czech Republic
  • Université Alexandru Ioan Cuza de Iasi, Romania
  • Semmelweis University, Hungary
  • Universidad Complutense, Spain
  • The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, Poland
  • Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca, Spain
  • Universidad de Murcia, Spain
  • Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero, Argentina
  • Matej Bel University, Slovakia
  • Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland
  • Universidade de Porto, Portugal
  • University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany

The main theme discussed throughout the week’s workshops centered on how to be a university with its finger on the pulse of current times, with participants focusing on the latest trends happening in higher education. Each workshop began with a presentation and discussion of practices used at Rennes 2 before exchanging on practices used elsewhere and potential opportunities for improvement and innovation more globally. Some workshop topics included how to diversify one’s cultural offer, how to be an inclusive university, and ways to take concrete actions that sustainable development initiatives on campus.

A main part of the week’s activities also included French-language classes for participants, given by teachers of the CIREFE. When not busy discussing trends, or taking French classes, the university’s guests also had the opportunity to discover Brittany and its culture in a friendly atmosphere (with a visit to downtown Rennes and the Mont-Saint-Michel being amongst those offered in the form of guided tours).

The Staff Training Week is one of the opportunities provided within the framework of the Erasmus+ program.
