Khoomei and Tuvan throat singing in polyphony
Khusugtun is one of the most popular khoomei and throat singing groups in Mongolia for over 10 years. Synonymous with "nomads", their name represents their desire to nomadize in music, in the image of their ancestors who travelled the world. The particularity of the sextet lies in the use of vocal polyphony. After having been revealed by the International Khoomei Festival of Ulaanbaatar, BBC Proms, Rainforest Music Festival, Khusugtun has toured in about twenty countries. What is important to them is that we listen to them while imagining the beauty of nature, to free ourselves from daily worries.
This concert is programmed in collaboration with the ethnomusicologist and specialist of Mongolian diphonic singing Johanni Curtet. Artistic director of the association Routes Nomades, he produces diphonic singing tours and participated, in 2010, in the nomination of the khoomei for inclusion in UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
