On November 4, 2024, Rennes 2 received a visit from a German delegation from the region of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, led by Bettina Martin, Minister of Science, Culture, Federal and European Affairs. The visit aimed to enhance academic, cultural, and economic ties between the two regions.
The delegation included several prominent academic figures from Germany, notably Elizabeth Prommer, Rector of the University of Rostock; Professor Gerd Teschke, Rector of the University of Applied Sciences in Neubrandenburg; Professor Bodo Wiegandt-Hoffmeister, Rector of the University of Applied Sciences in Wismar; and Professor Udo Kragl, former Vice Rector of Research at the University of Rostock and current head of Rostock’s "Ocean Technology Campus." Professor Stephanie Wodianka, who holds the Chair of French and Italian Literature at the University of Rostock, also joined the group.
From Rennes 2, the group was received by Vincent Gouëset, President of Rennes 2 University; Edwige Fusaro, Vice President of International Affairs; Amal Jouffe el-Amrani, Director of the International Relations Office; and Juliette Cornet, Head of the Mobility Pole of the International Office.
Among the significant activities during the visit was a meeting between Professor Stephanie Wodianka and a representative of Rennes 2’s CELLAM research center (Centre for the Study of Ancient and Modern Languages and Literature). The two discussed potential joint research initiatives, emphasizing the interdisciplinary strengths of both centers. The University of Rostock’s interdisciplinary faculty, organized into four thematic departments including one focused on "Knowledge, Culture, and Transformation," aligns with CELLAM's multidisciplinary approach.
This burgeoning partnership will likely foster academic exchanges, collaborative research, and diverse educational opportunities, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing knowledge across borders.
