Classes Internationales is a Campus France initiative implemented in partnership with the French Embassy and French universities and other higher education institutions in participating countries. It is intended for students who have an elementary-level of understanding of French and who wish to pursue higher education in France but require additional linguistic or academic preparation.
The program is open to applicants from India, Vietnam, China, South Africa, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Kenya who hold a qualification equivalent to the French baccalaureate.
A Year of Academic and Linguistic Preparation
Throughout the year, students will follow an intensive study plan at the CIREFE, Rennes 2 University’s center for French as a Foreign Language. The program combines:
- French language training (around 500 hours) with the goal of achieving B2 proficiency
- Academic courses in French and English (around 150 hours) in subjects such as literature, history and the arts
- Personalized support and guidance to facilitate entry into university studies conducted in French
This integrated approach provides students with the skills, confidence and cultural understanding needed to succeed within the French higher education system.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Hold a secondary school qualification equivalent to the French baccalaureate
- Be non-French-speaking students or adults seeking to begin or resume undergraduate studies
- Demonstrate a minimum A2 level in French at the time of application
With its combination of intensive language learning, academic preparation and cultural immersion, the Classes Internationales program at Rennes 2 University provides an excellent foundation for international students planning to pursue higher education in France.
More information on this program can be found on the CIREFE website here and on the dedicated Campus France website here.
Please Note:
Enrollment in the Diplôme Universitaire Classes Internationales does not guarantee automatic admission to a Bachelor’s program at Rennes 2 University. However, it offers a structured and supportive pathway that significantly strengthens students’ readiness for university studies in France.
