When: March 8 and 9, 2019

Where: Villejean Campus (see the programme for details)

Landscape, as a concept, is fundamental when it comes to understanding the complexity of a territory. Inseparable from the way a space is perceived, landscape is a pluralistic concept, evolving over time and seasons.

In the two regions of Finistère in Europe, the landscape can be viewed in terms of contrasts: between the sea and forests, between steep cliffs or sandy areas, between industrial cities and rural hamlets. Seascapes, countryside landscapes, urban landscapes thus form the mosaic of these two territories are both similar and different. These landscapes shape others, interior in nature, marking the women and men who live there, the arts produced, and also molding the images that are reflected to the outside world.

This conference will focus on highlighting the specificities of the landscapes of the two areas to show the richness of their geographical landscapes, economic and cultural aspects and highlight their artistic potential.

The conference will also pay special tribute to Xesús Alonso Montero, specialist of Galician literature. Writer and poet, he is also a Professor of literature.
