On Tuesday, October 20th, Olivier David, President of Rennes 2 University, and Lesley Lelourec, Vice President for Internationalisation, welcomed the Portuguese Ambassador to France, His Excellency Jorge Torres Pereira for a brief visit at Rennes 2’s Villejean Campus.

The meeting was the occasion to discuss a number of common subjects, namely:

  • collaborations between Rennes 2 and Portuguese universities, and more broadly with the Portuguese-speaking world,
  • the upcoming centenary celebration of the teaching of Portuguese in Rennes (foreseen in 2021),
  • and the creation of a Portuguese-related Chair position within the framework of the Camões Institute

Also present at the meeting was the Coordinator of Portuguese Language-Teaching in France as well as a limited number of Rennes 2 participants from the Portuguese department, Faculty of Languages and the International Office.

In terms of past and present partnerships, Rennes 2 has a number of Erasmus Agreements with Portuguese higher education institutions (notably in the fields of language, literature and social sciences), and bilateral agreements with the Universidade do Algarve - Faro and the Instituto Camões - Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua for student, teaching and research mobility.
