Semester 1 Welcome and Orientation Week for Exchange Students: September 2 - 6, 2024

French-language Students of the CIREFE:
- Registered students of the CIREFE should check their website for important information regarding early semester meetings and start dates for classes.
For all international students:
- International Students’ Day (with the International Mobility Center, CMI, in downtown Rennes): International students, PhD students and researchers studying in Rennes, the CMI invites you to join them for their welcome event on Thursday, September 12th. Come and share a friendly time, get informed and meet other students! From 1 - 6:30pm.
- Welcome reception at the Rennes City Hall (Hotel de Ville): Tuesday, October 8, 2O24 / 6 p.m.
- Campus Week: Get to know your campus and student services available in a convivial way: September 10 - 12, 2024 on the Villejean campus. In Saint-Brieuc for the Mazier campus on: Thursday, September 12th.
- This event also features an International Desk - a one-stop help desk for international students as well as students interested in mobility and language exchange programs. University staff from the International Office, the DEVU and the CMI are present to help answer questions for new students.
- There's also the opportunity to participate in the escape game: Bienvenue à l'université" (Welcome to the university!), designed by the Language Didactics Master's program. Take up the challenge of the Escape Game from 2pm to 5pm on September 10 and 11. Follow the sessions live on the RENNES2D virtual world.

Assistance and more through the CMI Rennes
The CMI Rennes will be launching a number of initiatives to welcome international students, support them in their first steps, and facilitate their integration.
Make an appointment with them for questions related to:
- finding accommodation for the school year
- visa validation
- residence permit renewal procedures
- questions on health insurance
- and other procedures
A "Welcome & residence permits" desk will be held on the CMI Rennes premises, from August 22nd, 2024.
In addition, the CMI offers students and researchers numerous ways to get to know the city with a list of cultural activities planned throughout the year. Check their website regularly for updates for the 2024-2025 year.
Meet other students with the Rennes 2 Buddy System
Rennes 2 has created a buddy system to help put international students in contact with local students in this mentor/mentee program. To register as an international student, you should fill out the bilingual form available on this webpage.

Ways to Keep Busy this Summer
Already in Rennes or arriving soon? Find a list of festive activities at your disposal this summer. Explore the “Exporama" festival (a contemporary art festival offering numerous events on the theme of the 60s during the summer), or attend a free concert thanks to the Transat en Ville festival (free concerts with some 30 dates scheduled over the summer period). You can also find other options at the Rennes Tourism Office website, Destination Rennes.
