The Metro and Bus System: The STAR network

The city of Rennes has a metro line and network of buses that will allow you to get around quickly.

The metro line ‘a’ allows you to cross the city in no time and makes a stop directly in front of Rennes 2 University at the station: Villejean-Université. Several buses also stop at the Villejean-Université station. Buses cover both the city and its neighboring areas. Night owls can take advantage of the two night bus lines, which run from Thursday evening to Sunday morning.

Metro and bus tickets can be purchased in any STAR ticket machine located throughout the city. Individual tickets cost 1.50 euros. Monthly subscriptions to the public transit system are available for purchase at the following stations: République or Villejean. Students under 26 will be eligible for a discounted rate.

More information can be found on the STAR website.
