The History Department aims to provide students with a broad knowledge base of of events, national and international, over time. More specifically, students enrolled in our program should expect to: acquire a historical culture that covers a broad range of periods (old, medieval, modern, contemporary); and learn about historical analysis and the mastery of basic historical tools (bibliography, collection of written and oral sources, etc.).
Rennes 2 University offers history courses at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels. Doctoral training completed through research and professional research experience. The doctorate is prepared in a doctoral school, within a research unit and under the responsibility of a thesis director.
